Smaller and lighter than most military aircraft, the iconic UH-1 Iroquois "Huey" was designed primarily for medical evacuation, though other missions included general support, air assault, cargo transport, search and rescue, and ground attack. Through its service in Vietnam, it became a symbol for the United States' involvement in Southeast Asia.
